Saturday in Geneva
The Voice family went on walkabout last Saturday in Geneva, since there was so much to see and do that day. First, we stopped into Mrs. Voice's favorite shop Cocoon to take advantage of Tax Free Weekend. That is where I snapped this picture I like to call, "Love Ain't Free."
Then we strolled up to Kiss The Sky in order to celebrate Record Store Day. We got to chat a little with Steve, Mike, and the rest of the gang. We were also introduced to Dave Glynn, frontman of the Empty Can Band and one of the organizers of the Blues on the Fox festival in downtown Aurora. (More info on that to come) The store was crawling with patrons and the metal band Smash Corps was setting up for an in-store performance. We munched on tortilla chips and guacamole supplied by nearby RJ's Deli (which was enough to persuade us to eat lunch there later on). When I purchase music at Kiss The Sky, I feel pressured to try to impress Steve with my selection. So we bought a poster instead. I call this photo, "Dad, Look At Those Rock Star Heads!"
Then we froggered across the street to Stockholm's because Little Voice likes to play the video games in the back. Great beer, excellent food, and friendly staff. One of our favorite places.
We capped off the trip with a stop at Graham's for ice cream. We sat in the Adirondack chairs in front and slurped our scoops while watching a wedding spill out of the church across the street. Exhausted, we finally made for the car after another stellar day in downtown Geneva.
