UPDATE: North Aurora Days 2009 Back At Clock Tower Plaza
North Aurora Days is heading back to the Clock Tower Plaza, according to festival organizer Max Herwig. In a phone conversation we had with Mr. Herwig this afternoon, he outlined the challenges of finding a home for the annual celebration.
As we originally posted, organizers were considering holding the festival at Mooseheart in order to have enough room to provide a full carnival. That plan fell through, however, when the county determined that North Aurora Police would not be able to work the event since Mooseheart is outside of their jurisdiction. Instead, Kane County law enforcement would have had to be hired at a cost of thousands of dollars of overtime pay. The county also declined to deputize North Aurora officers for the event. Sponsorship is already down sharply from previous years, therefore, organizers chose to move the event rather than incurring additional costs.
So North Aurora Days 2009 will look much like it did two years ago at the Clock Tower Plaza, featuring a row of food vendors, a beer tent, an entertainment stage, and some carnival games located by the Super Wash car wash.
Check back for the full schedule of events when it becomes available.
[OK, so two months later... Anyway, here's the schedule]
